PBN Programs are geared towards solutions to a particular problem. It has embraced the principles of Public Journalism that provides the venue for the discussion of relevant issues and concerns of its listeners and the community it serves. It empowers people to speak freely and provides an avenue for collaboration with the concerned officials to arrive at a common solution to a particular problem. It aims to bring hope and inspiration among the least, the last and the lost.
PBN has not only confined its services in terms of its news and public affairs programs. It goes beyond Radio. It has advocacy programs on Education, Agriculture, Family & Life, Environment, Business, Tourism & Livelihood, Good Governance, Sports, Health & Wellness and Culture & Arts. Ip its own way, these advocacies are also implemented on-ground to put actions to what we discuss on-air to put flesh and actions for the common good of the people, especially the bicolanos.
It has scholarship programs that helped more than 300 poor but deserving young students to finish their schooling in the field of Education, Computer Sciences and short-term Technical-Vocational courses. It implemented social service projects like medical-dental and optical missions, feeding programs, gift-giving and other related social services to least fortunate
It has consistently acted as Communication Center in times of disaster and calamities of the different local government units and government agencies to achieve zero-casualty.
With its proven public service, PBN has endeared to the hearts of the listeners as "KADAMAY" stations which means a forever companion of everybody, a station which everybody can depend and rely on, and a partner in the development and progress of the community serving the Bicolanos worldwide.
PBN stations enjoy a considerable high trust rating among the listeners. Its flagship station in Legazpi City, the DZGB-am, is the consistent number one AM radio station for over three (3) decades now. The latest of which is the latest RRC survey in 2015 showing a dominant audience share of 64%.

With the advent of 90’s, the move to ultimate medium, television. Realizing the need for national network with a strong programming capability, PBN entered into and became an affiliate of ABC 5.
On March 3, 1995, PBN’s dream of operating its own TV station became a reality. Its local TV shows took Naga City by storm, of which another giant network found worthy competitor.
Inspired by the huge success of DWGB-FM in Legazpi. City, PBN decided to 0pen another FM station in a more competitive market- DZOK FM in Naga city, July 3, 3995.
With the establishment of PBN TV 5 in Naga City, it was just a matter of time before the 2 TV Station was opened. On June 1995, PBN TV 6 was born in Legazpi City.
On the same year, People’s Broadcasting Network has changed its corporate name to PBN Broadcasting Network, Inc. with three (3) AM stations, two (2) FM stations and two (2) television stations strategically positioned in the key cities and provinces in the region and practically covers the entire Bicolandia.
With its proven track record of integrity, professionalism and strict adherence to Broadcast Code and ethical standards particularly in the fair, balance and objective presentation of its news and public affairs program, the franchise granted to Mr. Jorge D. Bayona was again renewed and approved assigning in favor of PBN Broadcasting Network, Inc. by virtue of Republic Act 8158 for a period of another twenty-five (25) years.

True to its company's vision, missions and goals, PBN Stations served with the highest ethical standards and professionalism in broadcast journalism. It has received several awards and recognitions from different local and national award-giving bodies for broadcast excellence, innovation, creativity and public service, such as the KBP Golden Awards for Best AM Radio Station in years 2000 and 2011, Best Community Service Awards, Best Public Service Campaign, including the highest KBP Lifetime Achievement Award for Mr. Jorge D. Bayona in year 2000 for his pioneering spirit and significant contributions in the advancement of the broadcast industry. PBN likewise received an Award for Excellence from the International Labor Organization (ILO-IPEC) for its advocacy campaign for the elimination of child labor in the Province of Camarines Norte.
PBN Broadcasting Network, Inc., or simply PBN, started its operations as a cable-type station fondly called "Radyo Balagon" under the banner of Bicol Wire Broadcasting System (BWBS in Legazpi City in year 1958. It was established by Mr. Jorge D. Bayona when Legazpi City and the whole province of Albay had never heard about radio.
With the initial success of the BWBS, the stage was set for even loftier goals. Bicol Wire Broadcasting System gave way to People's Broadcasting System with the establishment of DZGB-am, an air-cast radio station in 1960. Thus, PBN pioneered local broadcasting in the Province of Albay.
In 1961, Mr. Jorge D. Bayona was granted a franchise to operate a radio broadcasting station in the Province of Albay by virtue of Republic Act No. 2937. This was later amended and approved by the Sixth Congress of the Republic of the Philippines as Republic Act 5789 on May 21, 1969 expanding its territorial are of coverage from Albay Province to the entire Bicol Region and Southern Luzon, and enlarging its area of operation to include television stations for a period of twenty-five (25) years, or until 1994.
DZGB-am proved to be the first in a string of AM stations. A music station was created and subsequently named DZGM-am. On June 24, 1970, DZMD-am was inaugurated in Daet, Camarines Norte. Two years later another station, DZMS-am was born in the Province of Sorsogon. People’s Broadcasting System became People's Broadcasting Network or PBN.
The entry of Mr. Bayona's daughter, Brenda Bayona-Locsin, in the network's operations and management has provided new blood and fresh perspective. In 1987, DWGB-fm was born. Operating side by side with DZGB- am, it made history when it dominated the local surveys barely after six (6) months of operation.
PBN was on the move. It was not long before everyone realized that the momentum created by these turns of events would prove unstoppable.

PBN Broadcasting Network, Inc. has pioneered broadcasting in the province of Albay since it started its operation in 1958. PBN stations also serve as the communication center during calamities i.e. typhoons, volcanic eruptions, floods, etc., where the Local Chief Executives (LCEs ) give their advisory to their constituents for the purpose of achieving zero casualty.
PBN is a multi-awarded bicolano network having been a recipient of several awards and recognitions from both local and national award-giving bodies, and was awarded two-time by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) as the Best
AM Station Nationwide in years 2000 and 2011 for broadcast excellence and professionalism.
Its Founding Chairman, Mr. Jorge D. Bayona, received the highest KBP Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering spirit and significant contributions in the the advancement of the broadcasts industry.
In partnership with the different government agencies and the LGU's, PBN is doing several trade exhibits and expositions to provide a marketplace to our micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) to showcase their products and services that can be globally competitive. Notable of these are the Bicol Tourism and Food Expo (BITFEX) promoting local tourism and food, the Bicol Agri-Aqua Fair showcasing the best products of our farmers and fisherfolks, the MSME Expo, the Magayon Health & Wellness Expo featuring natural and organic products of our farmers, and the EARTH Forum and Expo tackling the effects of climate change and global warming.
